Lush X Super Mario Collaboration
In conjunction with the release of the Super Mario Bros movie, Lush Cosmetics, have released a wide selection of bath products. Let’s take a look shall we?
It’s been a hot minute since I caught up with Lush cosmetics. Back in my hayday, before I was picked up to write retro gaming content, I had a beauty blog and a lot of the products featured were Lush products. I briefly started to Instagram my bathing antics over 2019 and 2020, but stopped when I moved that year. This was because my local Lush store had closed during COVID, our packages would always go missing in our old apartment and also I didn’t have a bathtub.
Whilst I still have some issues with the plumbing in my new apartment; I now live near a local Lush store, packages ACTUALLY get delivered here and I have a bathtub! Very dangerous, for a Lushie, if you ask me!
Released 24th March 2023, this is a limited collection features, two shower gels, two shower jellies, one soap, one body spray and of course, one bathbomb! Now I didn’t get the whole collection and chose the smallest size, as I really couldn’t afford to splurge, but I got these things to try.
Gold Coin Soap (£5)
The minute I smelt this, I knew I was going to love it. Based on one of their signature scents, Honey I washed the kids, this soap will literally make you and your house smell of sweet, caramel. It’s creamy and will leave your skin feeling soft for ages too! Although £5 for a soap may seem like alot, let me assure you, it’s quite huge and I know for a fact that Lush soaps do last a relatively long time.
Mario Shower Gel (Prices differ)
The shower gels were expensive in my opinion, the cheapest option starts at £8.00 for 120g and apart from doing what a normal shower gel would do, they don’t really offer anything else. With the top notes being lime and benzoin, this shower gel smells like sweet fizzy cola, which although I hate the sweets, I absolutely love the smell. They offer three sizes, 120g (£8.00), £235 (£16.00), 560g (£27.00).
Luigi Shower Gel (Prices differ)
As mentioned earlier, the shower gels are expensive and I was so disappointed with Luigi’s shower gel, especially considering he is my favourite out of the two brothers. Made with lime and fresh apple juice, it’s supposed to smell like fresh, crisp apples but honestly it smells so synthetic. Which is strange, considering Lush are known for using fresh ingredients in their products. They offer three sizes, 120g (£8.00), £235 (£16.00), 560g (£27.00).
Princess Peach Shower Jelly (Prices differ)
I love their shower jellies, so I’m glad that they used this product for the collaboration. Initially I hated this one, it smelt so stale but after a while, the smell of the peach juice started to come through and I’m now okay with this product. My only other issue with this is the shower jelly is very oily and slimy compared to say, Whoosh and I think that could be due to the mood lifting litsea subeba oil also included. They offer two sizes, 100g (£6.50) and 240g (£13.00). At the time of writing this, it’s sold out in both.
Bowser Shower Jelly (Prices differ)
This is probably my favourite out of the entire collection. Filled with warm and spicy scents, this jelly smells so similar to another one of Lush’s signature scents, Karma. This scent in particular is a favourite of mine. It not only has a nice, spicy, earthy smell that lingers on softened skin for ages but that invigorating musk lingers in the house for ages. I highly recommend this one! They offer two sizes, 100g (£6.50) and 240g (£13.00).
Now I didn’t get the bath bomb for two reasons, a) I still have some plumbing issues with the current flat and b) I personally think £16.00 for a bathbomb is a bit much. I know you get a cool soap inside after the initial bomb melts away, but still, it’s freaking £16!!!!
The same with the spray. I’m quite particular with perfumes and body spray in general and £30 for a 200ml body spray that smells like pineapple and peach, doesn’t sound like it’s my cup of tea. All in all, I love this collaboration and I will probably stock up on more items soon, especially considering all items are limited edition and I would assume that once they’re gone, they’re gone!
