Again the player can fish, plant crops, cook, get fossils appraised, catch bugs and even terraform the whole island to uplift its appearance and ratings. As the game utilises the Nintendo Switch’s in-game clock, the player will get to explore timed events and fully immerse themselves in the festivities of the seasons. Alchemic Cutie
Although Alchemic Cutie isn’t a farming simulator, it’s cute, pixel art style and homely appeal is very reminiscent of Stardew Valley. It’s a RPG adventure game set in Wimba island where your character is in charge of managing a farm, taming numerous types of jellies, interacting with many villagers and uncovering the secrets of the island.
As it is a cozy game similar to Stardew Valley, you’re thrown into this relaxing game and have to learn many mechanics through brief tutorials and plenty of trial and error. Cozy Grove is yet another life simulation game which sees the player help many of the spectral residents that inhabit an ever changing, haunted island. As you’re the acting spirit scout, you’re tasked with creating a camp, making many friends and uplift this island through decorating- amongst other things.
It’s a game that relies heavily on real time progress and paces the player to ensure that they don’t burn themselves out too quickly on the gameplay. Everyday you will need to explore the forest to create and find new areas, as you embark on quests tied to your relationships with many of the island residents. As Stardew Valley was heavily involved by Harvest Moon, I thought that it was only fitting to include one of the games in this. Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is a role playing, life simulation game which sees the player tend crops, look after their farm animals, attend many of the town's events and eventually get married- just like any other game in the series.
Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is the perfect alternative to Stardew Valley as it is very similar and those who are used to roaming around Pelican Town, will feel right at home in newer pastures.
My Time At Portia
My Time At Portia is a RPG, life simulation game which is set in a post apocalyptic world and sees the player emerge from underground to have to rebuild their society after it got destroyed. In this game you must gather resources and craft items, that can then be sold on for gold and favours with the townsfolk.
